San Juan Lateral Water Treatment Plant: Walls Are Going Up!
If you’ve passed by the San Juan Lateral Water Treatment Plant construction site lately, you may have noticed a lot of activity—though much of the biggest progress has been happening behind the scenes. Over the past several months, crews have been preparing for one of the project’s most exciting milestones: building the tall concrete walls that will shape the future
treatment plant.
Before any concrete wall may be placed, workers must first install several important components, including steel reinforcement (rebar), bulkheads, water seal materials, scaffolding, and formwork. These steps take time and careful coordination, and while they aren’t always dramatic to look at, they’re essential to ensuring the facility is built to last for generations.
Crews have begun placing concrete for the facility’s vertical walls, a major sign of progress that will soon be much more visible to the community. Since the beginning of the project, over 150 concrete trucks have delivered about 1,662 cubic yards of concrete, which has been placed across foundations, slabs, and the first sections of rising walls.
In the months ahead, the treatment plant will become easier to recognize as the structures grow upward and take shape. Thank you for your continued interest and support as we move forward with this important regional water project.
