Monthly Update

The construction work at the San Juan Lateral Water Treatment Plant shifted into a higher gear during May, as the earthwork portion of the project dominated the site. Western Constructors and Logistics (WCL), Archer Western’s earthwork subcontractor, was busy moving dirt around the site while excavating for several major structures. WCL has 10 employees on site, with a comparable number of pieces of equipment. This complements Archer Western’s mobilization staff currently setting up the site. In order to encourage local employment for the project, Archer Western held its first of several hiring fairs on May 28 at a local hotel in Farmington. Over 70 candidates attended the fair and submitted applications. Archer Western is promoting employment on the project using several methods:

1. Billboards – Two highway billboards, one west of Farmington, and one north of Gallup, are advertising the project.

2. Radio Spots – Archer Western is advertising the project several times daily on the local Navajo language radio station, KNDN.

3. Local Chapter Meetings – Archer Western has created flyers that will be distributed during local chapter meetings.
