Key takeaways from the Project

1. The San Juan Lateral Water Treatment Plant (SJLWTP) is a new water treatment plant, commissioned by the Bureau of Reclamation, that will treat water to be distributed by the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply pipeline to communities in the Navajo Nation and to the City of Gallup.

2. The SJLWTP will receive raw water from the San Juan River, process and treat the water to make potable water, which will then be distributed through the pipeline from the water treatment plant to the City of Gallup and Navajo Nation communities.

3. The SJLWTP will have the capacity to produce up to 18.8 million gallons per day (MGD) of potable water.  Construction of the SJLWTP is scheduled for completion December 24, 2028.  The project includes a full water treatment and 6,000 square foot administration  and operations building.

4. Once the SJLWTP is completed, it will be operated by Jacobs for the Bureau of Reclamation for a year, then turned over to the Navajo Nation for continued operation.  As the water distribution is expanded by the Navajo Nation, the SJLWTP can be upgraded to double its operating capacity to 37.6 MGD.
