First Concrete Placement Honors  Tradition and Partnership

In spring 2025, before earthwork began, the entire site was blessed by a Navajo Nation Medicine Man during a ceremony attended by representatives from the Navajo Nation, Bureau of Reclamation, Jacobs, Archer Western, and other stakeholders. The ashes from the blessing ceremony were incorporated into the first concrete placement—the clearwell subgrade beneath the bottom mat of rebar. This honored the cultural sensitivity of the area and reflected a strong, respectful collaboration with project stakeholders.
