Progress Continues Across the Site
Construction is moving steadily on the San Juan Lateral Water Treatment Plant, and this month marks another solid step forward. As of September 2026, our project is 40% complete on a cost basis, with crews active across every part of the site. The plant is a cornerstone of the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project, overseen by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and once it comes online it will treat water drawn from the San Juan River to deliver a clean, dependable supply to communities across the region. It’s a long-planned investment in the area’s water security, and one we’re honored to help build.
By the Numbers
A quick look at where things stand this month:
- 40% complete (cost basis)
- 19,300 labor hours worked
- 100 construction workers on-site
A Closer Look at the Clearwell and Treated Water Pump Station
This month’s progress centers on one of the facility’s most important pieces, the Clearwell and Treated Water Pump Station. It acts as the heart of the plant’s storage and delivery system, holding treated water and providing the pumping power needed to send clean water out to the distribution system whenever it’s needed.
The structure is a dual-train, cast-in-place concrete clearwell with dedicated cells for filter backwash and granular activated carbon supply, along with dedicated storage for finished water. A set of vertical turbine pumps drives the whole system. All together, it provides 555,000 gallons of storage and can pump up to 37.6 million gallons of treated water per day, giving the plant the flexibility and capacity to keep pace with demand. The station is built as two independent trains, which means it can keep running smoothly even when one side is taken offline for maintenance.
Where Construction Stands
Work is progressing across the site, with some structures nearing completion and others just getting underway:

- Recycle Pump Station: 75%
- Clearwell & Treated Water Pump Station: 45%
- Filtration: 45%
- Rapid Mix, Flocculation & Sedimentation: 45%
- Administrative Building: 35%
- Maintenance & Chemical Facility: 20%
- Air Chambers & GAC Filtration Facility: 5%
The Road Ahead
Our project has moved steadily since design work began in September 2024. Construction broke ground in April 2025, and the design reached 100% completion in February 2026. With the build now 40% complete, the next major milestone is reaching 50% construction, expected in 2027. From there, the plant is scheduled to be operational by December 2028, and the full project is set to wrap up in December 2029.
